Alasdair Rae shares his thoughts on mapping out England’s inequalities

As we have previously blogged, Alasdair Rae  has provided access to an Indices of Deprivation 2015 shapefile, plus a map for every local authority in England. The shapefile was created by joining the original data from the Department of Communities and Local Government to a generalised LSOA boundary file sourced from the ONS Geography portal. This file also contains details of each area’s score from the 2010 Indices of Deprivation – and whether or not an individual LSOA remained unchanged.

In this blog piece Alasdair shares his thoughts on lessons learned through mapping out England’s inequalities. He says “the overall message is clear: not much has changed.” However London (as it is in many cases!) proves to be the exception.
